The unbeaten year continues but it was just a solitary point as the Sports netted a deserved equaliser six minutes from time in a game that was devoid of chances, the major shock being the eight cautions issued by the referee without a bad foul in the whole game.
The Missioners had the best of the early possession but failed to warm up visiting keeper Lee Hook before a three minute onslaught from Boro starting on 13 minutes could easily have given then the lead. Andy Atkin headed into Kevin Davies' arms from a Duncan McArthur free-kick, Adam Wilde then crossed from the left to an unmarked Neil Jenkins but the defender was well wide with his header. These two chances were followed almost immediately by a Matt Smart drive from the edge of the area that fortunately struck Boro's own Allan Tait and looped up into Davies' arms.
Michael Bartley then had a header wide of the target from a Liam Feeney free-kick before Hook had to reach for the sky to tip over a 35 yard screamer from Gilbert Nuako that appeared to be heading for the corner of the net. Still within the opening 25 minutes, Will Hendry saw a 25 yard free-kick comfortably held by Hook and skipper Adam Logie was unlucky when he beat Hook in the air to a Daniel Dyer free-kick but the ball drifted wide of the far post.
Sadly the final 20 minutes of the half saw no further trouble for either keeper and I think the crowd woke up when Robbie put the music on at the break!
Kevin Hill was forced into a change at the break with Mark E'Bayer replacing
the injured Ryan Ashe in central midfield. Just three minutes had passed when Davies had to be alert to stop a McArthur free-kick from 25 yards and ten minutes later a similar free-kick at the other end by Hendry saw Logie almost get a back heel to it but it went wide of Hook's goal.
With twenty minutes remaining the visitors thought they had taken the lead as Wilde found Pat Harding in the box who put the ball past Davies only to be denied by an assistant's flag on the far side. The deadlock was to be broken just four minutes later, but at the other end. Bartley won the ball against the odds at the corner flag before working his way between two defenders and along the byeline and cutting it back to top scorer Feeney who duly beat Hook from eight yards out.
The Sports began to push for an equaliser almost immediately and indeed waited just ten minutes as substitute Harding beat Jack Haverson to a right wing cross and beat Davies from close range. Minutes later they could have taken the lead when Jay Lovett drove into the box only to be denied by Davies who palmed his shot away to safety.
The final chance to take all three points fell to Hayes, E'Bayer advanced towards the edge of the area before laying the ball of to Dyer whose attempted chip over Hook saw the keeper reach up and push the effort over the crossbar with the resultant corner causing no problems.
