Hayes 2 Watford XI 1
Kevin Hill's Missioners rounded off their pre-season in style with a 2-1 victory over a strong Watford XI who included at least five players with football league experience.
The visitors struck woodwork as early as the third minute before Jon Dyer broke the deadlock on 16 minutes. A clearance by the Hornets was perfectly controlled in the middle of the park by Kieran Knight whose controlled volley found Ryan Ashe on the right side, he in turn fed the ball across the area where Dyer nipped in to wrong foot keeper Scott Loach.
Missoners keeper Reece Kirk, himself a product of the excellent Watford academy, was twice forced into action during the first half, one a full stretch tip over the bar from a rasping Matthew Spring drive.
With no fewer than 13 substitutions being made during the second period it was no surprise that the game lost some of its shape, Adam Thomson was very quick to block a point blank effort before substitute Miles Jones received the ball on the halfway line, outpaced three defenders with the ball at his feet before clipping it past Loach to double the Missioners lead, celebrating in athletic fashion with a selection of somersaults.
Having given ourselves breathing space with three minutes remaining, the Hornets forced their way back into the game in stoppage time when the ball was played out left to Hameur Bouazza who thumped the ball under Thomson.
Now it all starts for real - Good luck to Kevin and the boys and also best wishes to Aidy Boothroyd and his Watford side in the Premiership.
Kev Watts.

Chesham United 2 Hayes 4
Hayes cruised to a four goal lead against their hosts before conceding two late goals.
Chesham had started brightly, but it wasn’t until the 15 th minute when the first chance arrived, and that was for Hayes. Shaun McAuley pounced on some dithering defending and rounded keeper Scott Ward, but his finish was blocked by a last ditch defensive dive.
Only five minutes later, Hayes took the lead. Liam Feeney charged down a clearance and took the ball down the left wing before cutting the ball back for an unmarked Jon Dyer to fire home.
After half an hour, Chesham were denied a classy equaliser by an offside flag and almost immediately found themselves 2-0 down. As the ball broke from the free kick Ryan Ashe’s precise pass put McAuley clear and he again rounded Ward before making sure with his finish.
Hayes were dominant at the start of the second half and got a third within five minutes when the offside trap was breached and Damon Ming, Ashe and Kieran Knight were all bearing down on Ward. Both Ming and Ashe had shots parried but Knight’s finish was straightforward.
Tobi Jinadu, Ming and Mark Nicholls all tested Ward before, in the 64 th minute, Feeney set Nicholls through down the right and his pinpoint cross was expertly headed in by Knight.
A flurry of substitutions from both sides made the game rather disjointed from then on and this scuppered the momentum for Hayes. Chesham scored twice in the last 15 minutes, the first a long shot through a crowded penalty area and the second a penalty after Ming committed a foul. However, this didn’t sour an encouraging performance with the season one week away.
Team: Reece Kirk, Adam Logie (Mark Boyce), Gilbert Nuako (Ryan Tackley), Mark Nicholls, Orlando Jeffrey (Tobi Jinadu), Peter Collins, Shaun McAuley (Damon Ming), Ryan Ashe, Jon Dyer (Marvin Bartley), Kieran Knight, Liam Feeney (Adam Logie)

Wembley 1 Hayes 2
Two goals in the final quarter hour saw the Missioners edge past Wembley in our first visit to Vale Farm in 20 years.
With the Missioners continuing to advance their passing game it was some fine keeping by the home stopper that kept the home sides goal intact during the first period while Adam Thomson also saved well on a couple of occasions. The home side broke the deadlock two minutes before the break when their centre half was left totally unmarked to head past the unprotected Thomson.
Only a superb save by the home keeper denied Marvin Bartley an equaliser after some neat interplay saw the midfielder volley goalwards before we finally broke through. A throughball towards Liam Feeney saw the keeper get to the ball first only for his clearance to strike Feeney and fall perfectly for the midfielder to slot home into the vacant net.
Three minutes later the decider came, Kieran Knight fired in a cross shot from the left that a home defender could only smash past his own keeper to give Hayes the win.
Team: Adam Thomson (Reece Kirk), Adam Logie (Mark Boyce), Ryan Tackley (Daniel Dyer), Marvin Bartley, Orlando Jeffrey, Tobi Jinadu (Aron Steel), Shaun McAuley (Liam Feeney), Joe Sparrowhawk (Ryan Ashe), Jon Dyer (Kieran Knight), Mark Nicholls, Gilbert Nuako (Damon Ming).

Northwood 2 Hayes 2
Hayes started well at Chestnut Avenue and took a deserved 21st minute lead through a James Shipperley own goal after Bermudan international Damon Ming and Kieran Knight had combined with the latter's driven cross being turned in by the defender.
The home side pulled the game level just six minutes into the second period when Orlando Jeffrey was adjudged to have felled a Woods striker in the area and former Missioner Dean Clark sent Adam Thomson the wrong way from the spot.
Manager Kevin Hill made some defensive changes and with 58 minutes played a weak Adam Logie clearance fell to Dean Powles who crashed a volley past Thomson to give the home side the edge. This lead however was to last just 45 seconds as Shaun McAuley weighted a perfect
pass into the run of Josh Scott who slotted under the keeper to bring it all level.
Team: Adam Thomson, Adam Logie (Mark Boyce), Gilbert Nuako (Ryan Tackley), Marvin Bartley, Orlando Jeffrey, Peter Collins (Rob Lee), Shaun McAuley (Liam Feeney), Ryan Ashe (Joe Sparrowhawk), Josh Scott (Miles Jones), Kieran Knight (Mark Nicholls), Damon Ming.

Harefield United XI 1 Hayes XI 0 (Game 1)
Harefield United XI 1 Hayes XI 1 (Game 2)
It's really hard to put any semblance of sense to this afternoon's fixtures from a supporters point of view, however I am sure both managers will have been happy to see how different line-ups and triallists figured.
The first game saw The Hares earn a 1-0 win with a goal courtesy of Danny Jordan, who had a brief spell as a Missioner last season before returning to the Hares.
The second game saw the Missioners take an early lead when a pinpoint Shaun McAuley cross was met perfectly at the near post by Jon Dyer. With many changes made to both sides during the early part of the second period, it was Harefield who caught our back line square and raced through to pull the game level, the way it stayed to the end.
TEAMS:
Game 1: Jason Crawford, Mark Boyce, Ryan Tackley, Danny Jeffreys, Peter Collins, Bradley Edmunds, Liam Feeney, Ryan Ashe, Junior Thompson, Kieran Knight, Ian Brooks. Subs: Stafforde Palmer, Jarrel Henry and 3 trialists.
Game 2 : Jason Crawford, Rob Lee (Martin Delaney), Gilbert Nuako, Tony Privett, Adam Logie, Shaun McAuley (Earl Johnson), Kevin McKenna (Joe Sparrowhawk), Marvin Bartley (David Boateng), Damon Ming (Rhys Price), Michael Bartley (Josh Scott), Jon Dyer (Godfrey Torto).

Chertsey Town 0 Hayes 2
This was to be a good work out for the Missioners and victory was earned courtesy of second half strikes from Kieran Knight and Josh Scott.
Whilst having the majority of the first half possession, the Hayes strikers could not find a way past our former youth/reserve team keeper Michael Piwonski who appears to have made the Chertsey number 1 jersey his own.
The second half saw Piwonski turn his ankle to be replaced by Danny Cooper, the replacement seeing action too soon for his liking when Michael Bartley burst into the the box, the referee deciding that a combination of Cooper and a defender had brought down the striker and a spot kick was awarded. Kieran Knight stepped up and stroked the ball into the corner just out of Cooper's reach.
With both sides making several changes during the second period, it was not until four minutes from time that the result was assured, Josh Scott firing home from just inside the area.
Team: John Ashwood (Adam Thomson), Adam Logie (Mark Boyce), Gilbert Nuako, Kevin McKenna (Danny Jeffreys), Orlando Jeffrey, Peter Collins, Shaun McAuley (Josh Scott), Ryan Ashe (Joe Sparrowhawk), Michael Bartley (Mark Nicholls), Kieran Knight (Jon Dyer), Liam Feeney.
