A brace from Josh Scott sandwiched by a Shaun McAuley strike was enough to see the Missioners through to an away tie with Edgware Town in the quarter finals of this seasons County Cup.

It could however have been a different story had Hanwell striker Ricky Pither given them a second minute lead having been put through by former Missioner Christian Metcalfe. Metcalfe had dispossessed Ryan Ashe in the middle of the park before playing the striker through on goal, thankfully Keita Karamoko was sharp enough to beat away his drive and danger was averted. The Missioners came back immediately though, Liam Feeney broke away down the right wing before finding Kieran Kn
ight in the middle only for his effort to be deflected away for a corner that came to nothing.

The visitors then settled into a short spell of possession without troubliing Karamoko before we moving up a gear and began to take the game to our lessor opponents. Knight did well to bring down a Feeney pass before finding Ashe who could only lift a "dolly" into keeper Simeon Charles' hands from close range while within a minute Knight and Feeney again caused problems, this time Shaun McAuley was the recipient but his curling effort touched off a defender and went agonisingly wide.

The breakthough finally came just before the half hour mark when Josh Scott, just back from suspension, picked up the ball before shooting low and hard from 20 yards towards the corner and keeper Charles appeared to dive over the ball that ended up nestling nicely in the back of the Hanwell net.

Having seen Charles beaten from distance it became a bit of a shoot on sight game, Feeney chested down a McAuley cross only for Charles to block his shot while a 25 yarder from Knight was inches wide of the upright with Charles beaten. Ashe then won the ball in the middle of the pitch before hitting a 25 yarder that Charles fumbled but managed to gather as Feeney arrived on the scene.

The final chance of the half fell to Hanwell, the impressive Victor Osobu outstripped Ryan Tackley on the right before meeting a diving Karamoko who gathered the ball at the wingers feet before he could do any damage.

Shoot on sight again appeared to be the order of the second half as just a couple of minutes had passed when Mark E'Bayer and Knight combined to set up Scott whose shot came back off Charles' chest again and was cleared to safety. The second goal was not long coming however, a quick Feeney free-kick saw McAuley ghost into the right side of the area before angling a shot through Charles and into the far corner.

Chances continued aplenty with keeper Charles appearing to have a back injury which could explain his poor handling of shots from range, first he fumbled and gathered a Gilbert Nuako shot closely followed by exactly the same outcome to an Ashe effort that former Missioner Jason O'Connor just managed to clear before Feeney arrived. Charles then saved well from Scott after good approach play from debutant full-back Jomo Faal-Thomas who had also been instrumental in setting up Ashe's earlier effort.

McAuley saw another effort bounce of Charles' chest before Knight outpaced Mark Stevens before unselfishly setting the ball on a plate for Scott who tapped home his second unchallenged. Charles then made a good diving save from Knight before substitute Stafforde Palmer fired wide after a good touch from E'Bayer.

The final action of the game was left to the best of the Hanwell side when Osobu beat McAuley to a Sean Hillier pass but he could not keep his shot down and caused no problem for Karamoko.
