With a very important League match looming on Wednesday, Manager Kevin Hill took the chance to rest some of his regular starters, choosing to give some of his squad players a run out.

Liam Feeney was first to try his luck but was wide of the target after just two minutes and as the game settled into a midfield battle it was not until the 16th minute when the next opening presented itself. This time the chance fell to Northwood but Dwane Williams was far too high from long range.

A five minute spell midway through the half saw no fewer than three attempts any of which could have hit the net. A Michael Bartley break on the left saw his cutback miss out Stafforde Palmer but fall nicely to Feeney but again he was off target. Minutes later the Woods came close when a right wing cross fell nicely to the impressive Jerome Hall but his volley was inches over the bar. Almost immediately the game swung to the other end and a neat Palmer chest down fell perfectly to Rhys Price but his volley sailed the wring side of the upright.

Next to try his luck was one of a gaggle of former Missioners, Peter Dean, his neat control and turn on a sixpence (or should that be 5p piece!) saw his curling shot well handled by Adam Thomson in the Hayes goal. Seconds later Logie was lucky when Harry Hunt caught him in possession and advanced on goal but rushed his shot and fired high and wide.

The final chance of the half again fell to Feeney after good work from Price but again he failed to hit the target.

The second half started well for the Missioners who soon snatched the lead with move that started with the ball in Thomson's arms. A quick throw to Shaun McAuley saw him find fellow wide man Feeney, his cross was touched by Bartley to Palmer who confidently fired past Bill Fishenden.

Woods came back at us almost immediately forcing an important intervention from Thomson to keep our advantage. A cross from the left saw Hunt arrive in the box only for Thomson to intercept the cross with his boot to clear, the ball however soon found its way back to Hunt but this time his curling effort was just off target.

Thomson was again in the action two minutes later as Hall and Dean combined with the formers shot looking like it would sneak in at the base of the post before Thomson turned it around the post.

Kevin Hill then made a substitution by replacing skipper Peter Collins with Daniel Dyer to save him for Wednesdays vital game, sadly this really seemed to unbalance the side and fifteen minutes later the game was level. A free-kick was played deep into the box where Williams headed past Thomson who should have done better at his near post.

The game from this point on really fizzled into nothingness and that included the extra half hour. MCFA Man of the Match Will Hendry crossed to Palmer but his touch was not firm enough to trouble Fishenden and Bartley went close with a header before Thomson kept the game level in the final minute of extra time when he pushed a fierce Danny Murphy free-kick around the post.

And so to the dreaded spot kicks and a second consecutive Final defeat for the Missioners. The first two Hayes kicks seeing Palmer strike the bar and Fishenden save from Logie put the Woods in the driving seat and after four netted kicks they were crowned Champions of Middlesex for the first time in the Clubs history.
