For the second time in 72 hours the second XI played out a scoreless game, this time at neighbours Uxbridge who set out their stall to defend from the outset.

While the home side rarely troubled John Peacock in the first half, the Missioners went close on more than one occasion, even finding the net only for an unbelievable offside decision to go against Junior Thompson who had in fact run through the defence.

Rhys Price saw an early shot saved by Uxbridge keeper, and former Missioner, Michael Piwonski before Bradley Edmunds headed just wide of the target from a Darren Spinks corner. Five minutes later we went even closer, as a Spinks corner was knocked down to Adam Cornell only for his effort to be hacked off the line.

At the other end a half cleared free-kick fell to Troy Lawrence but he volleyed wide of John Peacocks goal, this being the closest the Reds came in the whole half. Moving on five minutes, Armand Wembakungu saw a volley from edge of the box beat Piwonski only for Daryl King to clear off the line, the ball being put back into the centre where Edmunds header was held by Piwonski.

As the half drew to a close, Cornell and Miles Jones combined well down the right before the latter crossed to Junior Thompson but his effort was just off target.

The second half was much as the first with all of the attack coming from the Missioners without that vital breakthrough, causing manager Colin Davis to get more frustrated than ever.

Jones went close after being put in by Wembakungu but Piwonski saved with his legs and on the hour King came to the Reds rescue yet again as he was in the right place to play an excellent Cornell header off the line.

The last two real chances of the half came within a minute of each other, one for each side, and still fifteen minutes from time. Mark Sargeant fired goalwards from 25 yards for Uxbridge but Peacock saved comfortably and almost immediately Cornell beat the offside flag, despite actually being offside this time, but his cut-back to substitute Sam Arhin was fired weakly straight at Piwonski.
