Hayes 5
Hanwell Town 1 |

Hayes moved comfortably into the fourth round of the League Cup this evening with a convincing win over a Hanwell Town side that included two of the players who represented their first XI in the Middlesex Senior Cup at Church Road earlier this season.
The visitors created the first chance as early as the seventh minute when a last ditch Dave Thomas tackle prevented Lee McManus from getting his shot away after good work from Adam Jarche. Within sixty seconds the deadlock had indeed been broken, but at the other end. Matt Carroll and Andrew Harewood combined for the latter to slip the ball perfectly into the run of birthday boy Toby Little who beat keeper James Cox with ease.
Harewood and Carroll both had chances to increase the lead before right back Jerome Ferguson did just that, latching onto a loose ball in the area and firing past Cox from close range.
Just five minutes later it was 3-0, Michael Bryan was tripped moving across the edge of the area and after referee Mr Pinn awarded a free-kick, a quick thinking Little took the kick which the wall was being built leaving Cox rooted to his line.
Still the scoring had not finished for the half, Patrick Davis went close as we entered stoppage time for the visitors with a long range effort before another quickly taken Hayes free-kick
saw Harewood exchange passes with Carroll before curling his effort around Cox into the far corner of the net.
With the game effectively over, chances were more limited in the second half, Jack Rooney had a shot from the edge of the area held by Cox and for Hanwell Victor Osobu swept the ball to Josh Woods inside the area but again Thomas was there to block his way to goal and the chance went away.
On the hour Osobu and Woods again combined to create the visitors best chance this far, the wide man squaring to the unmarked Woods only for John Peacock to deny him from point blank range. Woods did finally get on the scoresheet ten minutes later, a long punt upfield saw Thomas and Peacock get in each others way and the loose ball ran to the striker who placed it into the empty net.
This was however not the start of an amazing comeback as within sixty seconds the Missioners had scored a fifth. Little broke away down the left flank before cutting back a perfect ball to Carroll who beat Cox from four yards out.
The same duo almost provided a mirror image four minutes later but the striker was just wide of the target as was substitute Dominic McAuley who twice went close in the dying moments.
